Team and group coaching

Team and group coaching

I work with teams and groups to help them manage better and achieve desired outcomes, to improve relational coordination or to focus on their more long-term development.

I can help teams and groups:

  • Develop specific skills or capabilities that are missing.
  • Identify and leverage your strengths
  • Make progress toward a specific work-related goal or to achieve results on a particular task or project.
  • Understand and respond to feedback.
  • Strengthen relational coordination and communication.
  • Improve systemic coordination between and among inter-dependent activity systems.

I can also help you establish team processes that enable ongoing emergent learning and vertical development based on an action inquiry approach.

My particular approach is based on helping you identify what is enabling and constraining your work and work out how to do more of what is helpful and less of what is unhelpful. In this work I pay attention to all aspects of the the work including systems and processes, behavioural patterns, language use and external expectations and pressure.

I also offer as-needed coaching, advice and support which can be accessed whenever required, but especially when you are trying to work out what to do in a complex, ambiguous or tricky situation or are managing performance and people issues.

For more senior leaders who need an independent ear I also offer a more wide-reaching program of support where I act as your strategic thinking partner and critical friend with whom they can test emerging ideas and understandings about what they need to do next.

Some team and group coaching projects I’ve been involved in have included:

  • Facilitated two cohorts of senior leaders in a Federal government department through a group coaching program to enhance their capacity to communicate about and to initiate and foster local change initiatives aligned with the broad change agenda.
  • Provided organisational change and workforce planning support to a Division of a Federal government department as part of the implementation of agreed reforms designed to establish a “One Division, One Team” culture and workforce capability across Canberra and overseas based business units and teams.

Please feel free to set up a time for a confidential discussion.
